Instant Connection

18 May

By a href=Have you ever had that feeling when you meet someone new and you just KNOW that you two just click?

Personally, I love that feeling.

Since my car was to go to the dealer’s because of Friday’s accident, I enlisted my best mate D to give me ride to school. D and I have been friends since our first semester at college. Originally, we were both in the same major (Systems engineering), but he changed to Mecatronic Engineering for our second semester.

I remember how I met D. It was the first day of classes and all of us IT students were just hanging out and D was standing next to Javi and I said bye to him. The next day, we realized that we had all our classes together and he asked to sit next to me in a class where I also met Alekz.

D started giving me rides mdway through September. We live 10 minutes from each other which in this city is like super close. D always took me to college on Wednesday for about 2 and half months. D has been there for me througha  lot of stuff, not that my other friends haven’t been but for me D is special because our friendship is a very easy one. I trust him with my life. He’s like a brother, almost twin to me. We just click.

D and I have car rituals, studying rituals, tv watching rituals. I always try to be there for him as I know he’s there for me.

BTW, D has had a girlfriend for the past 3 years. She’s really cute and I like her, she compliments him so well.

The whole point of this post is just to remind myself how there are tons of people in the world who I might just “click” with. Don’t get me wrong, all my friends are very dear to my heart, but D is special because we instantly connected.

Have you ever just “clicked” with someone?

Kisses,

Julie.

My trouble with art

17 May

I’ve never claimed to be any sort of artistic person.

In fact, I really do think that I’m one of the most un-artsy people I know. I can’t draw, I can’t sign, dance, paint, whatever. But ever since I entered my Illustration class, I’ve realized that I’m somewhat good at digital art. I mean, I don’t claim to be the next big thing but if I dedicate enough time and have a theme that I like I can do things that make me proud of myself.

Last week, I learned how to use the pen tool in Illustrator. It was really fun. So far I’ve stuck to tracing images but I hope to graduate to tracing my own drawing and stuff soon!

Also I started working on my final project for that class. It is supposed to be a mosaic made in Paco Salinas Fashion. He makes images like this one:

paco-salinas-1aSample of Salinas’ work sent to me as reference from my professor

I honestly didn’t get the concept so well, so instead of getting tons of pictures my professor told me that I could chop off a picture and make is looks like a make-shitft puzzle.

The image I chose is this one:

Vitral

I took it at Chapultepec Castle. It is one of the many stained glass pictres there are in a special corridor inside the Castle.

It didn’t take me that long chopping everything off. What took me long was the placement and the “try not to make it look perfect”. My final product:

final_mosaic

The little letters on the side are my name XDD.

I really don’t know how I can make this any better than it already is. I really love it and I think that I did a very good job.

Now please tell me what you think in the comments. Is it too perfect? Do you gett the puzzle feeling? Do you like it?

Kisses,

Julie.

Accidents Happen

16 May

sorry if this post lacks capitalization i’ll  explain later in the post.

yesterday, i was driving to school like i do every day. suddenly a van decided to change lanes or something in front of me. i hit the breaks as hard as i could but the little space i had plus the wet road resulted in the van hitting the left side of my car.

after a long wait for the insurance and other things, the man driving the van decided to not pay for my damage and although i wanted to go to the court for it my dad declined. my car functions as always but it is pretty beat up and i can’t open the left door. it leaves on monday for the shop and i have to pay $5,300 mexican pesos for it to be fixed.

the only physical thing that happened to me was a great state of shock and that my right hand nerves are swollen because of the tension that i put in when i hit the breaks and braced myself for the impact. i have to keep my hand immobilized for the weekend, so i can only type using my left hand (hence the lack of capitalization).

julie’s tips for when you get into a accident:

  • ALWAYS HAVE YOUR LICENSE, REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE POLICY. ALWAYS!!!! Also a map with street names helps the insurance people.
  • try to stay calm.
  • if you know you’re going to crash, try to position the car as to not crash with a corner. it is better to receive the impact from the sides than it is to receive it from the corners.
  • call your insurance ASAP, do not wait to talk to the other driver.
  • DO NOT get into a fight with the other driver.
  • TRY to take a picture of the accident if you are able, this helps in case you want to go to the court.
  • After everything is said and done, just cry and let it all out, then sleep it off.

all in all i’m fine and happy that nothing worse happened.

kisses,

julie.

Because I really wanted some Jelly Shots

09 May

Oh my! I don’t know what you are going to think about me with that title n_n.

Yesterday was Dearest’s birthday party. I was invited right from the start and you know? I really wanted to go to a party for a very long time.  But first let me tell you about my whole day…

I went to school, where I proceeded to finish my Vidal practice when I saw Lis waving at me in the parking lot. I waved back and then continued. Then I heard someone yelling “Julie! Julie! Julie!” but I looked around and saw no one. Then  heard the yelling again and it was Gerry who was parked next to me n_n. I finished my typing, sent my practice to be printed and then I climbed into Gerry’s car where we talked and talked and talked because we didn’t see each other for over two weeks because of the Swine Flu.

Talking about the Swine Flu, there were make shift booths with med students that were interrogating everyone entering a building. They were located on both sides of the building. They were asking everyone questions like:

  • Do you have or had fever?
  • Do you have or had head aches?
  • Do you have a runny nose?
  • Have you sneezed at all during the day?

If you said yes to any of these questions, the med students gave you a letter that “released” you from classes and they sent you home. God forbid if you sneezed, coughed of blew your nose in front of them. They actually did try to escort me home because I blew my nose. It is a nice preventive move, but it can get very annoying.

After that encounter with the health police, I went to Vidal and it turned out that the practice that I was working on can be due on Monday ¬¬. I hate Vidal!!!

It was also Prince Charming’s b-day. We took that as an excuse to distract Vidal and we ended up with no class at all because we were checking grades and our exams, which were less than satisfactory.

On my Illustration class, we started using Illustrator. It was very fun! This was the first time I used Illustrator for real. I’ve only used it to live trace some drawing but that’s it. I learned to use the pen tool to trace an image. It was really fun n_n. I also spent like 1 hour laughing with Pats and with a new friend, Fer.

Now to the party, sadly, there are no pictures so no photographic evidence.

I wore a black H&M shirt, layered with a white tank top underneath, my trusty jeans and low heels. I straightened my hair in a very funky way and it had volume but wasn’t all teased out. I got there with my vodka bottle and said hi to dearest, then proceeded to be introduced to everyone as “My good friend ‘La Dearest’, isn’t she hot?”. Major self-esteem boost!

I drank, I had loads of mango and vodka jelly shots, I danced, I talked, I made “peace” with an overgrown hobbit, I got hit on (by a very weird guy, I mean weird), and all in all I had a lot of fun. Dearest and his siblings are just adorable n_n.

Well, there’s more to tell but I really don’t want you to think awful things of me so let’s leave it at that.

Kisses,

Julie.

New Hair

05 May

Today I got ready to go out with my mum and sister. Originally we were going to drop sis at the salon while mum and I shopped for groceries. Well, plans changed when my mum decided to treat me and pay for my haircut.

Before:

Before.

I decided to chop it all off. Go as short as I could without having to live with an afro. It’s been years since I ad my hair this sort and it feels very weird not having that much hair anymore.

New Hair Curly

Curly version

New Hair Straight

Straight version

Personally, I like the curls better with this particular style.

I still have some dyed ends but those will go away eventually.

Kisses,

Julie.

2009 Wishlist (so far)

03 May

2009 wishlist part1

Click for Product info

So, here is the first part of things that I want to get this 2009. Traveling is certainly out of the equation for this year, so instead, I decided to start investing in my future since I hope to be graduating from college in June of 2010.

So wishlist for this year includes:

  • iPhone and MacBook. the iPhone is because I’ve wanted one since 2007 but now I’m able to get one and the MacBook is an essential part of a super secret project that I have in mind but I need the MacBook to execute.
  • Shoes! Not specifically the ones pictured but certainly similar models. I want a pair of black pumps, some nude sandals and nude booties. Of course super high and impossible to walk in (I do like falling down a lot!).
  • Skirts! and Dresses for that same matter. I want to be more girl-y! Enough said. Besides, jeans get old after 3 years of constantly wearing them. I want to wear something else!
  • Liquid Leggings + Skinny Jeans. I fell in love with some Members Only liquid leggings, but they are EXPEEEEENSIVE!! I’m talking about major $$$$ which I don’t have. Also skinny jeans are a good twist for my normal jeans and also, I haven’t been able to buy a pair since they came out.
  • Over-sized tops. To go with the liquid leggings of course n_n
  • Leather Jacket. I’ve wanted one for a long time but I still can’t find one that I think it’s perfect. The one above is very close n_n.
  • Assorted Element Eden gear. Because I haven’t made an order to get some yet n_n. Element Eden gear is a must for me. I have few pieces but the ones I have I wear a lot.

That’s it for now. The only thing I hope to get this year really is the iPhone, maybe another pair of shoes n_n. BTW, I haven’t used Polyvore in FOREVER!!! I forgot how much I like it n_n.

Kisses,

Julie.
