Maximus got a little new bandana collar thingy. He looks so cute with it. The funny thing is that when he wears it like in the picture, he starts biting on the end. He’s so cute and I love him so, so, so much n_n.
This is the view of Interlomas from the rooftop at The Palace. The Palace is the new parking building at uni. I normally park there when I arrive in the late morning, in the afternoon I move my car to park closer to the Engineering building. The roof is floor 17 of the parking lot building, at least I get some exercise going there .
Em, just tagged me and since I’m ignoring my work, I’m going to answer the meme right away.
What is your current obsession?
Not dying of stress and exhaustion? Well, really I’m currently obsessed with Jason Mraz, my ruined shoes, eating less junk, True Blood and Project Runway (which I can’t watch on YouTube anymore T_T).
What is your horoscope and do you relate?
I’m a Leo. They normally love the spotlight, have lion manes and love their friends to death. I really do relate to that, specially the mane part. I don’t have curls just because you know?
What are you wearing today?
My blue t-shirt, sweatpants and a grey cardigan. I’m going to college later so I’ll change into something less lazy-like.
What is the last thing you bought?
A book? Or does a Starbucks’ Shaken Lemon Black Tea counts? I’ve been broke so no shopping for me T_T.
What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She is all kinds of AWESOME! She’s also one of the many people I hope to meet once I get my butt over to the Southern Hemisphere. did I mention she also knows how to bake?
What’s for dinner?
No idea, my mum just went to get something for us to eat. I normally just have chocolate milk for dinner.
What’s your favourite decade, fashion wise?
Eeeeeee, I like this decade n_n. I’m not very fashion savvy but I like my clothes to be simple and sleek. So yeah the 2000’s are my decade.
What are your must-haves for summer?
A fan, huge sunglasses, loads of sunscreen (sun allergy here), nice tops and loads of water!
What would you love to be able to afford?
An apartment in the very pretty neighborhood of La Condesa or maybe Polanco, heck I’d settle for an apartment. A trip around the world and to not worry about how I’m going to pay the bills (when I actually move out).
What is your favourite piece of clothing from your wardrobe?
I have to say my black pants from SASCH and my Steve Madden ankle boots. They’ve saved my life million of times. I also love my Zara dress but it doesn’t fit me anymore =(
What is your dream job?
I want to have a successful business as a freelance web designer. But actual dream job would be a fashion journalist or fashion stylist. I’d love to do something fashion-wise (although I really don’t know anything about fashion at all).
What is your favourite magazine?
Damn, I don’t read many of those. I like Nylon Mexico and Seventeen Mexico and once I picked a Vanidades just for the gossip.
Describe your personal style:
Fachoso-chic XDD (Fachoso is a word in Mexican slang for frumpy). No really I think my style is very simple, college oriented. I like simple clothes, minimal design and sometimes I like the whole skater vibe, other times I like to try and dress like a fairy. I guess that my style reflects how I feel at the moment and if I have to walk a lot or not n_n.
Which Beatle is your favourite?
John Lennon because he’s the only one I can remember.
What are you proud of?
I’m proud of many things like being able to get back my scholarship. Being able to have made it so far with my major. My awesome project from Engineering week. My pretty boys and my pretty girls. I’m proud that I’m finding myself and my path and I’m proud that I can actually cook pasta without burning anything.
I’m not going to tag anyone else n_n.
Kisses,
Julie.
Edit: Due to popular demand I’m going to tag the lovely Alex!
This week was Engineering Week!!! YAY!! Wuuu, say hello to a whole week of partying and going around cool conferences and showing off our projects!!! Except it wasn’t quite like that.
It all started on Monday when I was told that OMG!! We have to present our project tomorrow and your models don’t work on the program!! I made some changes and let the experts handle the rest.At the end of the day all the models were visible on our program except for my brother’s. Apparently the samurai (yes, he made a 3D samurai) was too awesome for our program to handle so he made is own program and showed it in another computer. Classes were mostly cancelled Tuesday – Thursday because of the conferences.
On Tuesday I arrived at school at 10:45 am, missed the Engineering Faculty picture (OH MY! But the others missed it too), and made my way to our stand. People were already there with CPUs, monitors and stuff to put up the IT (Information Technologies) stands. Ours was set up really fast: plug everything in, position it and make it look pretty. In the meantime, Alekz and I went to get some free Coca~Cola Zero and then went back to the stand. The Coke was the reason my day started going down the drain.
My stomach started aching and I blamed the gas in the Coke (I don’t drink much soda, much less Coca Zero) and I let it go. People were coming to our stand, watching what it was all about and asking questions. I made a whole speech about the project, Carmen, Alekz, L and the brother helped me perfection it! At about 12 something, the Faculty director came by and he was smitten by our project and I quote:
GUARD YOUR CODE!!
After a brief showing of our animated short films, Alekz left to go eat with his lil’ sis and L and I stayed in the stand with Hugo watching Chuy and Chon work on putting their project back together. They made a huge multi-touch screen! It was awesome! I had so much fun playing with that thing n_n.
After a brief lunch where I had half a sandwich and some tea (my stomach still hurt and a headache started to form by then) we went back to the stand (Lau, L and I) and there were some weird kids playing with our stand. WTF? o_O they might steal the computer we thought. But nooo, they were kids from other schools and faculties that had come to see what the fuzz was about in our lounge. There was this very geeky International Relations guy who was amazed by our project. I talked to him and when he knew that I had modeled some 3D space invaders, he asked to hug me and then found me vía Facebook. Nice boy, a little creepy but nice.
I also explained our project to a guy from Suse and Mike gave a miniature Tux. The dude was thoroughly impressed and Mike was pleased n_n.
At 4, Grandpa (nickname for a very cool professor which we all love) said that we had to be at the conference. So I left L and Hugo manning the stand. I went to the conference with Alekz and Shana Pol. My head ache was really bad by then and I was moments away from fainting and/or crying because of the pain. Then the people at the conference decided to turn the A/C on and I was freezing. Lucky for me Shana Pol lent me his jacket n_n. I loooove that jacket!
After the conference we managed to take a picture for the Uni’s newspaper with the lecturer and I said hi to Russian.
I explained my project like another 5 times and then I said STOP and left to my house. On the way to my car I had to cross a huge puddle and my shoes got ruined. My head ache was unbearable, it was raining really hard and the high way was crowded. I got home, called my sister to get me some other shoes and the went straight to my room, turned the lights off and crawled underneath the covers.
I spent the night in and out of fever-ish sleep. I went to the doctor and apparently this was brought on by exhaustion, stress and caffeine overload. He told me to get some vitamins and stay hydrated. I stayed home today and tomorrow I’m only attending my night class. I’m going to miss Alekz’ talk and the rest of Engineering Week but my health comes first. I’m feeling much, much better now.
Kisses,
Julie.
P.S.: Cool videos and pictures after I get the brother to pass them along.
Have you seen Charlie the Unicorn? I watched it yesterday and while I didn’t get it I did like the door part. Here’s the complete video in case you want to know what that’s about:
Ok, so the last week was very hectic for me. Loads of traffic, work and school-related stuff. On Wednesday, I got to school late but managed to get an awesome parking space so it was a little worth getting late. I also started working on my spider model for my thesis and I got some books from the library to work on Sleek Promotion’s web interface.
I’ve been avoiding scholarship service, lucky for me I have a million things to do so my boss has been extremely cool about it. On Thursday I barely finished my Graphics practice, then went to the talk about the social service (which Abuelito has already covered for all of us), then ate with the Mecatronics, delivered some resumes at the Recruit Fair and worked the door there. Finally, I gave myself a caffeine rush courtesy of a espresso and a White Mocha from Starbucks.
On Friday I went to school for a talks about writing protocols. The talk itself was boring but very useful, then Alekz, L and I went to pick up our letter of approval for our project and after that, we went to School Services to ask about the Social Service letters we need. All the bureaucracy is tiring but necessary.
Yesterday, was Nacho’s surprise birthday party. It was really fun, I got there at 4 and met with Alekz, Mario and Pakito. They were playing Guitar Hero with Nacho’s brother (another Paco) and other friends. Other people arrived, including Atenea. Atenea is a girl from my high school, she’s two years younger than me and when I was a senior I helped her and another girl, Caro, with the presentation for their project. They didn’t win that year but two years later they did and now she’s studying Actuary and is planning to go abroad for a year to Australia. I feel so proud of her n_n.
Finally Nacho and his girlfriend arrived and we “surprised him”. Javi and Isaac got him a wrestling mask which he wore:
We ate and played Guitar Hero World Tour. Our band rocked!!! It was soo fun. I really do love hanging out with my pretty, pretty boys (because my boys are super pretty). Here are some other silly pictures:
Yep, it was soo fun! My hair was straight, but it frizzed up super fast because it was very humid there T_T.
Today is Mariana’s Birthday! Go to her LJ and wish her a Happy Birthday while you oogle her amazing pictures.
So, I’m supposed to be at the movies with Lis but I have no car and no cash for a taxi and while I wait for my mum and sister to arrive with my car, I took some outfit pictures.
I’m wearing:
Hurley Lyric t-shirt
Pull and Bear denim mini skirt
Bershka leggings
Salamandra checkered flats (yes, they are my favourite shoes!)
Bangles from TodoModa
Meanwhile, my camera decided to go nuts! And here are the results:
This one is my favourite.
Wearing the famous Slash Hat and I look really white here o_O
I don’t know what’s up with my hand either!
Eep! MySpace picture!
Oh, I got my hair cut. it’s shorter and literally takes 5 minutes to arrange in a beautiful disaster of bouncy curls. I love it!
I’m going to the Apple Store to see if they can do something about my iPod. Can you believe that after 2 years I still have the ear bud cushion-y thingies? I impress myself with my OCD when it comes with electronics.
The week is not over yet and I already have many things to do, more on that later.
Senior year!! YAY!! Oh yes, welcome to my senior year at college. YES! While this excites me a whole lot, it also means that I’m going to be absolutely swamped with work during the next 10 or so months, so forgive me if I bitch and moan a lot during this time. This semester I’m taking 7 classes and making my thesis (crazy? you can bet on it!). All my classes are quite good and while I’m afraid of failing I know that doing a little everyday, I’ll be able to get everything done on time.
So schedule! It’s horrible, again I’ve got classes in the morning and at night, so yes, surprise! Another semester spent entirely at school. At least this time I get Fridays free! Well, the Fridays when I don’t have thesis meetings. The good thing is that I don’t have to wake up at 5 am anymore!!! YAY!! My subjects are fine and the teachers even better, although I think that I might have a slight problem understanding what on of them says, while staying awake during another’s class… Not everything can be magic, can it?
Yesterday I went to lunch with D, C, B, H and S. We had fun, I really like B, C, and H, they are super fun and they always make me smile. H calls me Princess and honestly, which girl doesn’t like that? Anyways, we went to MC in D’s car and in the backseat sat: B, C, H and I. Yes, why not? I was sitting on H’s lap XDD. It was so fun. We talked about S’ summer adventures and B’s new GF (she’s really cute) and silly and random stuff. It was a lighthearted lunch. Then D took us back because he had class. He left H, C and I on H’s car (which was parked in the new parking lot building AKA The Palace) and the H and I left C in his car and the H left me in my car. We moved the cars closer to the Engineering building and then waited for our next class. It was really random and fun, its been a very long time since I spent any quality time with them n_n.
In the afternoon Alekz and I brainstormed stuff for our thesis, we changed some stuff, asked BB(Big Brother) some things, talked it over with V and the with our teacher, It seems that we are well on our way. We just need to talk to our client, write the paper and prepare the presentation. You got i right, easier said than done.
