New Year’s Resolutions

It’s the last day of 2009. This year has been good but painful things (thing) happened and I don’t want to dwell much of it. I learned a lot and I hope that 2010 is better. Actually…

2010 will be better because I WILL make it better!

So, I’m waiting for the cable guy to come by to install cable in my room (thanks Cablevisión for having awesome New Year discounts and stuff and thanks Daddy for paying for it) and in the afternoon I’m going to a family friend’s house to eat NYE Japanese Food like it’s the last I’ll ever had. I can’t wait to get my hands on some omochi and sing with Aika. I’d better pack my iPod and cables. I think it will be a good way to say Bye Bye 2009, Hello 2010!

In 2010 I want…

  •  Enroll in French lessons – The sister and I want to go to Paris soon (with soon I mean this year or next year, it all depends) and one of us has to be able to communicate. Since she’s lazy I’ll be taking lessons again starting on April (I missed registration for the January-March term).
  •  Finish college – Only two semesters to go. I have a much lighter class weight these last two semesters and I feel good about it. No stress will make me good, well, at least not so much as last semester.
  •  Visit New York – I have to use my U.S. Tourist Visa…
  • Learn more about design – I know how to program, that is not my issue. I need to learn how to make things beautiful! On this day and age, I think that it’s important to mix design and development to be able to get out there and be known.
  •  Get Healthy – By this I mean go more to the doctor, have regular check ups, stop eating so much junk food, drink more water and exercise a bit.
  •  Buy a Wii – I think a Wii is the perfect console for me. It’s white, small and very easy to use. I’m not a gamer and have no intention to become one but I really want a Wii!!!
  • Mainly I want to have a good year. A better year and enjoy every second of it. It’s my last year at college and then, it’s off to the real world for me. I’m scared and so excited!

Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!!!

Bye Bye 2009!!

Today I had to go to a JW meeting with my parents. It’s the price I have to pay for them to take me to the special library where I get my Moleskine. It normally wouldn’t be such a big deal but the library is downtown and it’s not car safe nor safe for me to go on my own. So well, I tried to make it fun by dressing up a bit “wacky” in JW terms.

So here’s what I wore:

  • Black organic cotton Zara dress
  • Black long sweater from Stradivarius
  • Hounds tooth tights
  • Zara kitten heels
  • Stradivarius jacket
  • Silver clutch

The clutch I got it at a tianguis (which is a market) at $50 MXN which is less than $5 USD. It looks pink-ish in the pictures because the Unicorn wall reflects pink light (which in my opinion is pretty awesome!). My dad loved my outfit and it was a hit with the JWs, I also got people doing double takes at me on the street n_n.

Only two more days of 2009!!! Yay, I’m thinking 2010 will be extra sparkly!

Do you have New Year’s Resolutions… I have none yet, but hey, I still got two days n_n.

Ok , so these are some of the songs that I listened to during this year. I was pretty eclectic this year. From The Beatles, to Green Day, Lady Gaga all the way to Paquita la del Barrio and yes, why not? Even a little bit of Gloria Trevi and (oh God, I’m so ashamed to admit this) Calle 13.

Lady Gaga – Boys Boys Boys

Arely and I went to buy paint to make the Slash hat while listening to this one.

The Beatles – Octopus’s Garden

This one is Alekz’s fault! He got me into The Beatles and of course I love the cutest song from Abbey Road. Seriously, it’s way too cute :3.

Green Day – Poprocks and Coke

Lady Gaga – Bad Romance

Seriously, I love Lady Gaga. I LOOOOVE her.

Jace Everett – Bad Things

True Blod + it’s the sexiest song ever!

Muse – Starlight

This song started my love affair with Muse.

Gael García – Quiero que me quieras

Now, this is so bad it’s funny. XDD. Seriously.

And I can’t forget:

Mundo de Micheladas n_n.

Ok, I’m tired of searching for YouTube Videos.

What where your favourite songs of 2009?

The year is ending…

Interview, a big one

So I’ve been freaking out the last coupe of days.

You know that I always freak out, whether it is about what I’m going to eat or what I’m going to wear, I freak out (it is not healthy at all). You see I saw on Twitter that a certain magazine was looking for interns.

I shall not name the magazine because I don’t want to jinx things yet, still some of you that have seen my twitter know the whole story right now.

So I sent an email, asking what kind of interns they were looking for. They said that they were looking for interns that would work in many areas of the mag and that I should send my resume. I sent my resume with a lot of hope but very few expectations. The next day I saw an email where they asked me more about what I do and that was it.

On Monday I got a call! They wanted me to come in and interview!

So I spent the next two days stressing over what to wear. I had 2 breakdowns and many freak outs because, as a good engineer, I have nothing that is corporate-friendly. You see, us engineers (specially those who work on computer graphics) wear whatever we like and no one cares. Most of my clothes are kind of stylish but not suitable for a job interview.

In the end, I was overdressed, but as the CollegeFashion.net article I read says “It’s always better to be over dressed than under dressed!”. So here’s what I wore:

And this is why I hate pictures with flash!

  • Rockabilly 50’s style dress from eBay and borrowed from my sister
  • Black top (gift from L)
  • Black tights
  • Steve Madden ankle boots

I love how skinny that dress made me look. I hate that it emphasized my belly.

I got there quite early and was interviewed by the Graphic Designer. She was really nice and cool. They were looking for an intern to help administrate their website, basically upload content and pictures. Nothing big and probably not paid. I met the Fashion Director, her dog, the Art Director and the General Director of the magazine. They were all super cool and super nice, I feel like in a strange way, I fit in there.

At the same time, came in the lady who is making the new website for the magazine (with a CMS). We talked and the others asked my opinion on the software and just random questions about whether or not I could use it. Then I got to show them what I had done (web pages) and they said that they’d call after the Holidays to see if they would hire me or not.

I exchanged numbers with the lady from the website and left.

So, yeah, it was a cool interview at a cool place where I can develop in an industry that I always wanted to work at. Even if it gets to nothing, I still pat myself in the back for getting an interview at a fashion magazine (something I always wanted to do).

I’m on cloud nine.
