Purging and why I love having OCD

Today I decided to sort through my wardrobe.

I normally don’t do that because I end up not tossing stuff out because my mum always puts it back in ¬¬.

Today, I got my perfect chance. My parents were watching Twilight (again…) and I started to go through my wardrobe. I have 4 clothing racks and 5 drawers to keep everything I have. It’s a small walk-in-closet but still can hold a lot of stuff.

Basically I tossed like:

  • 10 jeans
  • 5 skirts
  • 8 jackets
  • 15 tops

This is how it looked after it was all purged. The shoes I had already sorted through some other time and the bags are common ground so I can’t toss without my mum and sister to decide. We like to share bags. BTW, sorry about the bad pictures but my closet is so dark that flash was actually necessary (I don’t believe in turning on the lights unless it’s dark outside and/or I get dressed in the morning).

Leftover hangers, I’m so happy that at least none of my stuff is on wire hangers anymore.

Jeans and coats. Yes, I hang my sunglasses there because I have nowhere else to put them.

All my bags. I have hand bags, shoulder bag, clutches, messenger bags, tote bags… you name it, I have it!
Also my bass guitar and boxes with cables and sentimental stuff.

Hoodies! These are the ones I kept the most because they are the ones I wear the most. Also my old Maddox uniform.

Jackets, skirts and some dresses. I have more dresses but they hang on the door of the dressing room.

My shoes. I might make another cut sometime soon. Yes, I wear a lot of sneakers.

This is some of the stuff I gathered to toss out. Some is going to the trash, some other is for donating.

I also organized my drawers but I was too lazy to take pictures of that. I think that this might be the last OCD kick I’ll have until I go back to school. I love having OCD, seeing everything organized and de-cluttered always makes me happy. Besides, I’d rather giveaway items than to have them inside my dark closet gathering dust.

Next on the OCD kick:

  • Organize pictures, installers and music before they turn into a major problem
  • Sort through my countless notebooks to see which ones I can use for this semester
  • Pick up my Parking Lot pass
  • Register for classes (I finally have a perfect schedule!)
  • Normalize, normalize, normalize

I’m not a Virgo, but I get this awesome kick from cleaning and seeing everything clear and un-cluttered. It also feels like I’ve cleared up my entire life.

I now have to be even more creative with my wardrobe choices, I think! I still have a lot of clothes and it’s time to use them all. I have to toss in small piles so that my mum doesn’t notice and leaves me alone. Now it’s time to organize her part of the dressing room (we share the dressing room because her room has enough closet space for my dad only, plus I don’t mind at all).

Did I tell you that I finally have my car back? I love it! I can finally go out without depending on my dad and my sister doesn’t get to trash it anymore. Note to self: Add clean out car to the list.
