Outfit 04-01-2010

I’m bored.

I’m simply too bored to care, it’s like when you have so much free time and you just have nothing else to do. Nothing to clean, nothing to work on, nothing to watch on TV because everything is re-runs now, no movies to watch. Nothing.

So yesterday I was browsing College Fashion and I saw a post called: DIY Projects to Cure the Winter Break Boredom Blues. I clicked on it and they were all fashion relate DIYs. I’m not good at arts and crafts but I’ve always wanted to learn how to sew and the Puff Skirt tutorial looked simple enough. I thought: “I have nothing to lose and fabric is not that expensive”.

Today I went to the fabric store (silly me went to the expensive one because my sister didn’t want to walk the 2 blocks to get to the reasonably priced one) and bought 1m of gray fabric (don’t ask what it is because I don’t know). Then we went to another store to get some thread and elastic.

I came back home and asked my mum to show me how to use the sewing machine (I’ve never used it before! EVER!) and I got started. My mum helped me a lot but I did all of the sewing. Surprisingly I’m not bad at it and can actually keep a semi-straight line (which I think is good for my first time). It took me like an hour to finish it (I kept stopping to make sure the fabric was straight and my seam was going ok) and here it is:

  • Gray puff skirt – DIY
  • Black knit top – Bershka
  • Black leggings – Shasa
  • Black boots – H&M

I don’t think it turned out THAT bad. I like it!

  2. I think it turned out really well…I’m always too lazy to pay attention to DIY tutorials so I am impressed! It’s pretty cool to see a tutorial put to use. :D

  3. @GeNmA: Gracias Pakito! Aunque seriamente dudo que me vuelva fashion designer :P. Siii aprende a tejer!

@Joanne Faith: Thank You Joanne! I learned how to use our sewing machine yesterday. I’m to lazy to do DIYs too, but the boredom was too much for me to handle anymore.

  4. Julie, you look fabulous! I saw your outfit shot and thought ‘oh cute’ before I even read that you’d sewed that skirt yourself. Well done you!
