Best Of… 12-02-2010
It’s been a long time since I did one of this.
I changed my header as a try-out. I didn’t like my other header anymore so until I do something I like we’ll KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). I’m also thinking about dropping Hot Mess as a name and just leaving my pseudonym. This is a test drive to see if I like it.
As you know, I’m taking a web-design class, specifically the aesthetics of the site themselves. I have to say that not caring about the functionality is a 180° from not caring about the look. So, I’ve been stalking web design blogs and I’ve found some pretty cool resources.
Coding
- Are you an HTML newbie? Well, then these 30 HTML Best Practices for Beginners will help you clean up your code right from the start
- I’m taking an interest on jQuery so How to start writing your own sweet jQuery scripts is certainly a good place to start
- CSS3 is making cool things like round corners and drop shadows to be extremely easy to incorporate on the CSS itself (yes, the browser compatibility is a bitch but… meh!) and here are some techniques that you should know about

Design
When I say design, mean design oriented to web. I you want info about other kinds of design, go to NubbyTwiglet.com.
- This when I see that some of the stuff that Russian said in class is relevant in something I want to work in. Applying Mathematics to Web Design and Applying Divine Proportion to your Web Designs really make a differnce.
- Three Golden Rules of Site Redesign and 7 tools you should be using for better web design are MUST READ if you’re thinking about overhaulin your website
- In case you haven’t seen it, the Color Theory for Designers series at Smashing Magazine is awesome!
Other cool stuff
These are things that I don’t know how to categorize, but that I thik are cool anyway n_n.

- 300&65 is a tumblr blog dedicated to ampersands, I’m a fan of ampersands and this collection makes me swoon
- Have you been using TeuxDeux? It’s a to-do list web app that I find fascinating! I can’t wait until their desktop and iPhone/iPod Touch Apps are ready!

Ran across your article today. Intresting links you included in it. I agree that design and development should be considered together.
