I love myself, dammit!

#radicalselflove

I stumbled upon those words when I was browsing GalaDarling.com. I’ve been quite disappointed by the blog for about a year and a half but when I saw Radical Self Love and read what it was about, I couldn’t resist, I joined the bandwagon immediately.

Radical Self Love is just that. Madly, truly, deeply, completely love yourself the way you are. Fall in love with yourself, take care of yourself. Stop looking for perfection, stop putting yourself down.

Radical Self Love is all about being over the whole:

I’ll love myself when I lose weight!

I’ll love myself when I eat 100% raw!

No! No! No!

- Gala Darling, Love & Sequins #1

I’m a firm believer that in order to give love, you MUST love yourself. How can you give to others something that you don’t have?

Now, I’m not saying (and I certainly don’t think that the others think so either) that we should just forget about everyone and everything else to become narcissists who just marvel at their own selves. No, no, no! By truly loving and accepting who you are and taking steps into making yourself happy and achieving and creating the life that you dream about you can give so much more to others. Radical Self Love is about taking responsibility for yourself and start acting! Radical Self Love is not about staring in the mirror all the time (although, I do like to look in the mirror). It goes beyond looking pretty all the time, beyond being comfortable and staying there.

Radical Self Love is about going to the next level. What makes you smile like silly? What are your forgotten hopes and dreams? What can you do to achieve them?

For me, Radical Self Love is the first step. First step towards the rest of my life.

Here are some awesome Radical Self Love quotes:

“The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” (Ayn Rand)

“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” (Clint Eastwood)

“You are always living the life you create. If your life does not feel right, create something better.” (Unknown)
