World Cup Fever :D
Now, I don’t know anything about football, nor do I watch it regularly, but when the World cup comes, I basically go mad about it. I love the World Cup so much that on 2006 I arrived late to my graduation ceremony in order to watch the México – Portugal game (so not worth it BTW). So you can totally guess that I have a really bad case of World Cup fever.
First of all, this is the first world cup in Africa!!

Which, if you ask me, it’s pretty awesome on itself. I would love to live a World Cup in México but to be the first country in a continent to host the World Cup has to be pretty awesome too.
I don’t know about other countries, but the Mexican coverage (from Televisa because I can’t stand TV Azteca but that’s another thing altogether) has been awesome! They’re showing us awesome animals every night (like a lion cub, a cheetah, a huge frog that had just eaten 2 mice :S and so on), they have Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo making commentary and analysis for them. Little known fact about me: I LOOOOVE Zinedine Zidane *_*, he’s an awesome football player and so hot. Also the comedians are doing an awesome job of making me laugh super loud with their antics XDD, I’d put videos here but they’re in Spanish u_u.
The games
They have been pretty boring. The best so far has been Germany – Australia with 4 goals from Germany (one from the awesome and super hot Miroslav Klose *_*). While I’m still waiting for the football to start, I’m enjoying the eye candy (like Kaká, Iker Casillas, Rafa Marquez, Lucas Podolski, van Persie, van der Vaart, David Villa, Gianluigi Buffon, etc, etc). But yes, we need some actual football to enjoy the World Cup. I’m tired of tied games and few goals because I can’t scream “GOOOOAAAAAL” all the time and that sucks.

This World Cup’s mascot. It’s so cute, I want a stuffed one (I might get a small keychain to replace my Intel one during the World Cup). My favourite mascot has been Goleo from Germany 2010. I actually bought two but Maximus got friendly with them and eventually destroyed them (that’s why I don’t buy stuffed things anymore).
Jabulani

The officiall ball for this World Cup. Apparently, it’s so technologically advanced that it has a mind of it’s own and pretty much everything is its fault. Last night, Zidane was asked to try both the 2006 ball and Jabulani and he said that Jabulani is weird, and well, if someone knows football is Zidane. Yup, I blame Jabulani for the lack of goals because it’s not a normal ball ¬¬.
The fans
No matter which country you support or where you are from, the World Cup reaches pretty much every corner of the world (I think this set of images from the Big Picture speaks for itself). From the vuvuzelas, to the painted faces, the football jerseys, the chants, the Mexican Wave, screaming to the top of your lungs at the TV as it you were the team’s TD. There is so much excitement when it comes to your national team. The game is pretty much a rollercoaster, everytime there is a goal opportunity you get excited or nervous, the you get angry if your team doesn’t score and then you get so happy and excited when they do. It’s up and down, right and left pretty much all the time (you know, when there are actually goals and football), they just like to play with your feelings. I think that being part of all those emotions and excitement and singing is pretty much why I love the World Cup so much.
The eye candy

I already said it before, but pretty much all the football players are fiiiiiine!!! My personal favourite is Miroslav Klose from Germany. He was the top scorer on the 2006 World Cup and he got his first goal on this one during Germany’s debut game. Good football player and hot as hell :D. My other favourites include: Kaká, Iker Casillas, “El Niño” Torres, Gianliuigi Buffon and van der Vaart.
The technology
From the techy-stuff and animations that the reportes use to analyze the games (seriously, a Microsoft surface or something similar?), plus animation for all the freaking moves of the game? To the fact that Twitter implemented little flags for each country in the World Cup and the fact that it’s collapsing all the time? It’s pretty much awesome. When I can’t watch a game, I can just log onto an HD stream or I can follow coverage at my favourite website (mediotiempo.com). I must admit that the vuvuzelas spoil the games for me, I just can’t stand that noise.
I think that’s all I can think of right now. I pretty much love the World Cup and I’m totally pumped for tomorrow’s México – France (which we are so going to win), I have my jersey ready and I’m getting some paint for my face :DDD.
Do you like the World Cup? who are you rooting for? Who is your favourite player/eye candy?
Kisses,
Julie.
P.D.: this World Cup calendar is AWESOME!

The ball was developed in Loughborough (where I live) at my old uni. So I’m not really surprised it has a mind of it’s own :D

OMG! Really? that must be awesome, I really had no idea it was developed there. Yup, if Zidane says that it has a mind of it’s own, it has a mind of it’s own.
