Here are some fun things I found on the web lately. As always, there is a little bit of everything for everyone and please enjoy.

 This is a video that I love a lot. It is a short video documentary with everyday images of Mexico City. You can see that the place where I live is very beautiful and totally busy. No donkeys, no sarapes, no guns, no fear and no stereotypes. The video is by AZOTEA POST.

I have two other videos, these are slightly creepy but if I could watch them, then you can watch them too.

• Swatches from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection. I totally need some of these polishes, specially since I got confirmation that the collection will be available in Mexico by March.
• Andy from StyleScrapbook just showed us her new StyleScrapbook for Kipling camera bag collection and I totally love it! I can’t wait until it hit stores and hopefully, I will be able to buy the one that I want here :D.
• This 15 year old from Brazil makes the best thematic nail art I have ever seen!
• If you are looking for web friendly fonts to use in your website, try using Google Web Fonts. There are over 400 free fonts and the setup is super easy! Don’t over do it though :/.
• Krissy has one of the most beautiful blogs, Shimmer Like Gold, I’ve ever seen and she just opened a second blog called k. I can’t wait to see what she does with it.
• Apart from doing #febphotoaday, I’m also doing #febphotoskill. I hope I can finish both challenges, here’s the image in case you want to do it too.

So, 2011 is over today. It was a rollercoaster ride for me both personally and professionally. Here is a little look back at my year.

January – May

I started the year as an only child. My sister got married on December 2010 and for the first time ever my parents had all their attention on me. It wasn’t that different from before and we actually bonded a lot.

I freelanced all the time with my business partner. Had my first business trip and had a blast. I applied to a Master’s Degree in Interactive Multimedia in Sydney and got accepted.

I went to see Bomba Estéreo with my BP and that same night I built a website from scratch due at 10 am the next day.

I got to sit second row on two Mercedes-Benz DFashion Mexico shows and got to experience the fashion world upfront. It was a whirlwind and while I love it, that world is not entirely for me.

I went to the Lady Gaga concert in Mexico City by myself. I made a friend on my way there and then made some other acquaintances while in the concert. I had a great time and that experience taught me a lot about having fun by myself and making the best out of situations.

I got my Engineering degree alongside my friends and had one of my childhood friends there with me. It was super special to me because I hadn’t seen her is a REALLY long time, people asked me if she was my sister.

June – December

I started June hanging out a little with my BFF on her birthday. It was a super low-key affair, but we had fun together :D.

My niece was born on June 6th.

My BP and I started freelancing for an agency and I got to hang out with Alekz a lot. It was fun meeting everyone at his work and just work somewhere away from home for a while.

I sent applications for grants and scholarships to be able to afford my Master’s Degree.

I bought my BP’s old Macbook, originally I was only going to use it to learn Objective-C but that didn’t happen.

I went to Campus Party Mexico. I didn’t stay there at night but I made the most of it. I got to reconnect with Pic and met a bunch of fun people. I got my picture taken with the U-17 World Cup (soccer), Akira Yamaoka, Maddog, and Neil Harbisson. I “flirted” with a German guy who presented Dimished reality and I failed at playing a video game with my mind. I’m so looking forward to CPMX4.

I went to “Esto es Google” with Alekz, it was a disappointment.

I got a bunch of Guerlain make up for my 23rd birthday, a DSLR and a really good time with my friends and family.

I went to see Cake, Ximena Sariñana, and 30 seconds to mars tape Sesiones with Alejandro Franco thanks to Alekz.

I went to a party in a casino with my friends, it was AWESOME!

I got to see Katy Perry in Mexico City with my BFF. She made me laugh a lot on our way there :D.

I went to my cousin’s quinceañera and had a super nice time dancing until I couldn’t dance. I ruined my glitter heels because of all the mud.

I went to Mercedes-Benz DFashion Mexico again. It was closer to home and I jumped on the chance to go.

I went to Sephora and got my UD Naked Palette, UDPP and a TokiDoki eyeliner.

I went to get a makeover at Kybela.

I got my hair bleached for the first time ever and I discovered Manic Panic.

I found out that I didn’t get any grants and thus, I wouldn’t be able to go to study in Australia :(.

I learned how to make apple pie and brownies.

So that was my year. I’m looking forward to start a new chapter in my life on 2012 and I might make a post on Tumblr about my goals for the year. I hope you have/had fun tonight and…

I haven’t been busy, I just haven’t been motivated to write. I was sick and yeah, I’m full of terrible excuses for not writing. I have also been dying my hair a lot, which is good because it looks AWESOME!

What have I been up to?

Besides being sick, I decided to delve into baking.

I started with apple pies because they’re easy to make. I have to say that they are quite tasty and very delicious. My boys can tell you, I got a delicious from all 7 of them and I wasn’t even in the room to evil eye them into saying that :D.

I also got a bunch of Vogue México Magazines. I think that I won a subscription or something. They just keep appearing on my doorstep.

And here’s part of an editorial I really liked (very badly photographed because I don’t have a scanner and orange lighting)

I’ve been playing Pokémon a LOT! I’m about to finish the Diamond version and I want to play the Black version next :D.

My friend Paco and I video chat a lot and we like to sing and make faces XD. Video chatting is extremely underrated.

Here we were singing the song from Robot Unicorn Attack.

Alekz got me into Marvel Blocks and I got Thor, I’m looking for Loki next.

That’s basically it, I’ve also been working but that’s really boring. The year is almost over and I think that next year will bring a lot of changes. I’m making a list of things I want to accomplish next year, or at least start working towards. I will post that next.

Anyways, today Galatzia declared “International blow bubbles in the forrest day” and since I have nothing better to do I decided to blow some bubbles and take pictures XD. It was kind of difficult to blow bubbles and take pictures at the same time :S, also excuse my poor posture I wasn’t thinking about anything but the freaking bubbles. Needless to say that I won’t be taking any pictures that feature bubbles anytime soon.

Anyway, this is what I carry with me whenever I got to a concert. Not that I go to many of them, but this is what works for me.

My concert bag

1. Cross-body bag – this one is on the small size and kind of waterproof. It’s from Sfera.
2. Rain coat – Usually, I go to concerts during the rain season. I’ve never had to use this one but it sure beats taking my own than getting a plastic bag off the street to cover myself up in case it rains.
3. Tickets – DUH! I get mine printed online (cheaper than getting them printed elsewhere but more expensive than buying them from the box office at the venue), that’s why they are so big. I keep them in plastic covers in case it rains.
4. Money + ID – To buy merchandise and in case I want to have a drink at the venue.
5. Hair tie – I usually go to concerts with my hair down but it gets really hot, hence the hair tie to keep my huge mane of curls under control.
6. Candy – this one is lychee candy (YUM!), to soothe my throat when I can no longer scream.
7. Cell phone – This one is also a given. I always have my cell phone with me. It goes inside a plastic bag as well.

Not pictured:

• Hand sanitizer – You just never know. I’ve been to venues where there are only portable bathrooms and they’re nasty and there is no way to properly wash your hands… ew!
• Jacket – To face the wind when the concert ends
• Keys – my parents pick me up so no real need for these

I didn’t add a camera or anything like that because cameras are not allowed inside venues here in Mexico City. There are loads of people that do sneak them in, but I don’t like to do that because I wouldn’t want to risk my camera being taken away. I also don’t like to take pictures or video during concerts, I go there to live the moment, not document it. Plus, concert videos and pictures tend to be really crappy unless you have a DSLR.

I like to purchase the transportation service to and from the concert. I take the bus from a place near my house and I’m left there one the concert is over. I don’t take my car or brave public transportation (not that I have anything against it, when I was a teen I used to take the metro to concerts with my BFF) or have someone pick me up at the venue which is on the other side of the city.
