Disclaimer: No I’m not an interior decorator, interior designer, architech or anything like that. I just decided to paint a wall because I wanted to paint a wall.
So I’ve been rambling on and on about what I want to do to change my bedroom. I’m seriously not moving anytime soon and it realy needed a change. You know, just because I wanted to make it mine, really mine. I moved into this house almost 5 years ago and my room has looked the same for that long. One day my parents decided to move and we brought all our stuff here and that was it. We just tidied up the place and that was our big move. I never really liked my bedroom. It is big, bigger than the one in the other house, I have a dressing room, a walk-in closet and a jacuzzi in my bathroom… but it never felt mine.
So I decided that the first step to make it mine was to get rid of that hideous wallpaper and paint the wall.
I went to Comex’s website to look for colours. Comex is a Mexican copany, so I knew that was te best place to look for colours because I would be sure to find tem easily and at good prices. So after fumbling with the website and finaly finding the colours I saw one that really caught my attention. It was like a weird magenta-pink-violet thingy and it’s name is Unicorn. Unicorn, I liked that name and then looked for the hexadecimal number (#ba6b95) and painted a huge chunk of space in Photoshop to see if I liked it.
I did like it… a lot!

So we went to get the paint and some supplies to get the job done. Then the hard part started: ripping off that wallpaper!
It was so much harder than I thought it would be. You have no idea. I started ripping as much as I could while it was dry. Then I got it wet and with a spattula took as much as I could. I totally have a blister on my hand from doing that. The worst part was when I had to climb up a ladder to get the top part off (stupid high ceiling ¬¬). My mum helped me a lot and in a matter of hours we got the whole thing down.
The next part was to fill in all the holes and imperfections. My dad did that with some plaster mix we got at Home Depot and itwas really fast (luckily, the wall wasn’t that much damaged). Then we waited for it to dry and we started painting.
Comex’s paint is water based, so you just dillute the amount of paint in 15% of water and you’re ready to go. It also doesn’t smell and is washable.

All the cleaning I have done was for nothing. My desk was a mess and with the wall all bare, it looked just horrible. It stayed like this for two days while the repair and paint was going on.

Unicorn paint!

Second coat!
The next day, I woke up and saw that there were huuuge white makrs on the wall so we did another coat. This is how it looked after the third coat.

Third coat!

In the afternoon, after painting.

At night with my lights on. My lightbulbs are yellow so the wall looks kind of orange.
I’m organizing the room again, and as soon as it gets done, I’m going to post more pictures of the wall. Right now we’re working on my sister’s room and yeah, we’ve turned into renovation central here. My mum really likes to get into these things o_O.
