Loving the bokeh in this one

I have no idea what any of these flowers are called, so don’t even ask . I also had fun photographing some of the animals, specially the sheep and my cousin’s cat. You might have seen some of these pics already in my Instagram (my username is juliettemaxwell), but here are the HQ versions.

The other day I went shopping for some China Glaze goodies when I saw that the magnetix series was finally here in Mexico. I quickly grabbed the grey polish and another magnetic one from Color Club that was blue.

I’ve been curious about magnetic nail polish ever since I saw swatches online and I was very excited to try it.

Magnetic nail polish is a hassle to put on. You have to do the complete process on each nail and it is a little bit time-consuming. You have to be very careful to not let the polish touch the magnet and ruin everything.

One thing I really didn’t like was that the instructions said to top the polish off with a clear top coat, but when you do that, the design gets all messed up. That’s really annoying.

China Glaze magnetic polishes don’t come with their own magnets. You have to but a magnet that comes with three different designs. It’s not my favourite magnet to use (the Color Club one is stronger), but I like the designs better than the curved design on the Color Club magnet.

This colour is called Attraction and I love it. You can see the design clearly on it and I’m fond of grey/black nail polish.

I’m still on the fence about whether or not I like magnetic nail polish. I don’t think that I will be buying more colours anytime soon, but it was fun to try it out.

I really like these trees, they are really beautiful and have the most gorgeous lavender/purple colour ever.

In fact, I’m meeting some friends in a little while for coffee before I come back home to catch the premiere of the second season of Game of Thrones (*_*). Here is what I’m wearing today:

• Floral mini dress – Bershka
• Denim jacket (super old) – Zara TRF
• Black tights (old)
• Turquoise shoes – C&A

I love these shoes, they are very comfortable. Usually my heels crush my toes but these don’t. I haven’t worn them for very long so I can’t say for sure, but I really do love them a lot <3.

I usually don’t wear dresses, because it seems that most of them are made for super skinny girls with no boobs and no thighs. Well, I happen to have quite a bit of both, that’s why I added the jacket. The tights are there because it is a bit chilly and rainy today.

I really like the print on this dress, it is like a water color painting.

My favourite thing about spring is that I can stop wearing jeans all the time. I don’t wear a lot of skirts/dresses, but I always welcome the change. Plus, getting ready is so much easier with dresses. You just put one on and you’re ready to go.

My makeup is nothing special, just bright pink lipstick and my usual NAKED1 palette look. I haven’t been able to experiment with more colours as much as I would like, but I have a wedding in two weeks and I MIGHT go a little bit crazy with it then.

Curly and long

Straight and dip-dyed

I ran out of Hot Hot Pink dye two weeks ago, so I decided to try Rock n’ Roll Red and I HATED the results. While I was at work, I decided to go to the salon on my way home. The salon closes early, so I made a deal with myself. If I made it to the salon, I would cut it all and if I didn’t I would buy another jar of Hot Hot Pink.

I did make it to the salon and I asked for all the bleach to be cut. My hairstylist, Mary, was so afraid of my reaction after cutting. I had to keep on reassuring her that I knew what I was doing and that it was fine with me.

I do regret getting a fringe though :/. I can always pin or braid it back, no biggie.

I love having long hair, but it grows back and it’s not a big deal for me. I do miss my super long locks, but I feel I look better without so much hair.

These pictures were taken today while I wait for my hair to dry. So please excuse the frizz and the fly away hairs.

Excuse my sleepy face. I woke up really early today >_<. I’ll add more pictures later when I decide to flat iron my hair. My haircut is a simple curly bob. Once it grows a little bit, I’m going in for some layer work .

I’m happy with my hair, I think that the change fits right in with my new life and style direction.

One of those first request was by Joanne Faith, a New Zealand based blogger, whose blog I’ve read for years now and who is someone I feel like I have many things in common with. I was very excited when she asked me to revamp and fix her comment section and her footer.

The work was very simple but effective.

The comments’ new look

The look is very minimalistic, which fits with Joanne’s layout. I just added the threaded comments and the avatars, did a little bit of styling and voilá! A new comment section.

The comments form was a bit trickier, I wanted to keep the minimalist look while giving it a little bit extra. Joanne asked me to look for a way to add a Twitter username field to the form and that was my favourite part of this project.

It was a very simple change, but I think that it changed the way that Joanne and her readers communicate now. I had a lot of fun working with her, she knew exactly what she wanted and I was able to deliver it to her.

P.S.: I know I said that I would change the look of this place last month, but I’ve been busy and I don’t want to code when I get home from work. Please bear with me a little while longer.

I had just dyed my hair, that is why I have it on a side braid. I also got bangs and I regret doing that. I just can’t deal with it in the mornings before work and I end up braiding or pinning it back.

I’m also changing the colour of my dip-dyed hair to bright red. As soon as I’m out of red dye, I will cut my hair really short to get rid of the bleached parts and just go on being typical brunette me.

Nothing much else to say today, I’m still getting used to my routine and getting back on my feet from a very traumatizing first week. I don’t know how to deal with stress and that is a HUGE problem with work.

I want to get back on the Lomography wagon and I will slowly retake my photo projects, in the meantime I will try to update this blog at least on the weekends.

It’s been a long time, almost two weeks since I’ve really been online. I got a new job and getting used to that has been exhausting. I’m slowly getting back on my feet and hope to make a full comeback at the end of this month.

About my blog… it got deleted.

My other server was managed by a friend of mine, but it was a server that he used to build a website for a client. This client hired someone else to re-design their web page and they deleted everything from the FTP. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING.

All the files, images, codes, everything is gone from the server and I didn’t have any backup. Now, I’m back online because I transfered my domain to my own server.

It’s going to be a while until I get everything up and running, but I hope that you join me on that crazy ride. I guess that this is an opportunity to re-consider blogging and everything that comes with it.
