My take on negative comments

I don’t really receive negative comments. My blog is not that famous. The comments I usually get are from my friends, both IRL and online.

However, I very rarely get a comment that is nasty. It usually rants about my appearance, fashion sense, writing style, geekyness and how I should just “get someone to end my poor existence already”. At first it stings, as any blogger can tell you, getting nasty comments leaves you with a very bad after taste, that’s why I just delete and ban the IP after I read them.

After I get over the bad after taste (during the deleting and banning), I think one thing only: “Oh man, I’m popular!”. You see, people who write negative comments have to do at least three things before commenting:

  1. Find you: That’s right, before someone can comment negatively, they have to find your website. Which means that you are reaching people! You are becoming popular!
  2. Read your content: My last negative comment came from page 4 on my blog. This person skimmed over 4 pages of content before they decided that they couldn’t stand me. But they read 4 pages! 4! I don’t think that many people do that, at least not in my blog.
  3. Write the actual comment: Which also includes thinking about a fake name, email address and website. That takes like 2 minutes of time plus the 3 minutes it takes to write the comment and click the send button. People dedicate that time to you, so you must be getting relevant for them to react so strongly against you.

So yeah, wen I get a negative comment I feel popular and relevant. I don’t see the point in them but creating a negative comment does take time and effort of the people who do it. Yes, they might say extremely nasty things but they can also include clever Chuck Norris references and links to inappropriate websites.

With that said, I just want everyone to know that negative comments will be spammed, deleted and banned. I don’t like having those types of comments being published here, that’s why I started to moderate all my comments, all of them.

What’s your take on negative comments?

Kisses,

Julie.

Wordpress! Please help me here!

I’ve been having problems with WordPress lately (not enough to convert to another CMS though, I loves me some WordPress). Anyways, this week has taken a toll on me. I had two exams (one really difficult and one super easy) and yestrday I went to visit a company to get a project done.

I’ve been meaning to post outfit pictures but the pics I took from my Wednesday outfit ended up looking plain nasty. Even after editing, they were some serious ugly and I blame the lightning in my room for that. I wore fishnets to school! YEAH! FISHNETS! I’ve been meaning to wear some of my new tights before it gets too hot to do it (because, apparrently, after the cold waves and the rain waves come the heat waves). Apparently, the boys like fishnets. It was so funny! I was totally aware that they wouldn’t look me in the eye and that they would focs on my legs but it was so funny! One of my friend told me “I’m seriously making an effort to look at you in the eye”. I guess they liked them.

I’m actually cooking in my room with all my windows open. I still think that this is better than the cold and the rain though, so I’ll deal with it.

Did I tell you that I found a spelling mistake on this month’s Elle Mexico? I emailed the editor-in-chief and she answered me with an apology. I seriously wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for the fact that the mistake was in the Alexander McQueen Memorial article. I’m pretty sure that it was a typing mistake, they tend to happen a lot. Still, it was cool to recieve an email from the editor-in-chief.

Do you know what happened yesterday?

Well, yesterday was GeNmA’s birthday! He is one of my boys and is the one person I actually talk to EVERYDAY. So be nice and go on to his birthday post and say happy birthday to him. He’s been a good panda all year.

Happy Birthday Pakito!!!

Well, I need to get ready to go out with the parents. I might dye my hair red, what do you think?

Kisses,

Julie.

Polyvore & Looklet

I’ve been playing with Polyvore and Looklet a lot. Many of you might be wondering what is Looklet? Looklet is a place like Polyvore, but instead of having just random stuff, you have a model and you can style her however you want. I’m a total Looklet addict now and it’s Aurea’s fault (si, te culpo a ti n_n).

So here are some looks I’ve done on Looklet and some sets I’ve made in Polyvore:

You have to press a key twice to write

Anyways, as predicted, the bad weather ended on Friday. Oh yeah, after a most terrible rain on Thursday, Friday was full of clear skies and sunshine see?

DSC02647 That little white thing-y is the moon at 9 am on Friday

Now this is what I call a nice Mexican Winter. Cold in the morning, hot during the day and cold at night again. Of course loads of sunshine (enough to make me grunt and whine but I love it!).

You know what I seriously dislike?

I really don’t like it when the professor says that they’re going to send info for the homework and send it late. I mean, if they want the homework done on time (in this case Friday night), then they should send the info before that and not late (like Saturday night). At least it was easy and fast to do, but still, it really irks me to end ¬¬.

My sister arrived really mad on Thursday, my mum told me that it was because her phone had broken down and being the “nice” sister that I am went to ask her about it (you know, see if I can help or at least Google the help) and she yelled at me. I just backed the hell off and let her be. The next day, my mum gave me her cell and after trying a lot of stuff, I had to format it to get it to work (it’s a Windows Mobile phone, I haven’t had that problem with mine). She wasn’t grateful but at least she wasn’t yelling anymore. Meh, I’ll never understand her moods.

Maximus is so cute :3

And I have proof! Here:

Oh yeah, I’m totally one of THOSE dog people.

Tomorrow is Monday and I don’t have class until 4pm, be jealous! XD

My New Year’s Eve

Damn, I’ve been awake for a little over 3 hours and my head is still throbbing from last night.

At first we didn’t have any plans. My sister was going off to Cuernavaca with her friends and my parents don’t do NYE at all. My friends were all spending it with their families, after all NYE is a family event here. So I was settled, like Alekz, to vegetate and then vegetate some more last night.

Then… the call came. It was V-chan calling to see if we wanted to spend NYE at her place with Tsuneo-san and Ai-chan as well. My mum and dad said yes (Daddy wanted to hang out with Tsuneo-san) and off we went. We arrived there at 4 and then started watching a Kouhaku re-run. From what I understand, Kouhaku is like a NYE music festival with a lot of artist that compete in two teams: Red and White. Red is for the women’s team and white is the men’s team. One team wins at the end of the night and there are judges and stuff like that. The 4 times I’ve seen it the men always win ¬¬.

So during Kouhaku I saw SMAP perform a tribute to Michael Jackson. They were awesome, I think I might have a huge crush on them, they are so fun to watch!

After Kouhaku was finished (like at 10 pm), we had food. So much beautiful, delicious and awesome food! Tsueno-san went to Mikasa (THE Japanese supermarket here in Mexico) and got so much stuff! I had veggie sushi roll, fried octopus I don’t know what and sweet beans and spongy egg. THE EGG!! I just think of it and drool. I also had my first ever rice cake.

“Where are the pics?” you may ask… Well, I kinda forgot my camera because it didn’t fit on the tiny clutch I took there.

So back to the food. I basically stuffed my face until I couldn’t eat more and the Tsuneo-san took out my crack, my heroin, my downfall:

Omochi with sweet beans

I almost died of happiness. If there is one thing I lovelovelovelove more than any other food in the entire universe is omochi with sweet beans. I ate two of those things!! Tsueno-san was laughing so hard at me but I didn’t care. I was in food heaven!

Ehm, ok back to the post…

I also had Plum Dew and like 4 types of red wine and white wine. It was like a liquor fest. Ai-chan and I just drank and drank and drank some more. Then we spent the whole Kouhaku dishing on the cute guys and I started plotting my trip to Japan, you know, to like snag one of those cute Japanese boys that seem to not age at all! I swear I was like “Who is that?! When does the next flight to Japan leave?!”.

I rang the new year singing karaoke with Daddy and then the next stuff comes blurry. I just remember getting home and collapsing on my bed.

Right now, I drinking massive amounts of water and staying away from food.

Huuuge post!!

This week was so busy I can’t even begin to tell you. So I’m going to try my best at documenting some stuff that happened ok?

It all started on Tuesday (Monday was a national holiday, so no school!!), I woke up at an ungodly hour to be able to go to a conference about Flash for iPhone at UIA. Now, UIA is really not tat far away from my college but the traffic to get there is just CRAZY!! We ended up arriving at 9:30 instead of 9 because of that.

DSC01722Shana Pol and I on Javi’s car.

The conference was good. It was directed at designers so we did snicker at some programming things because they are not THAT hard for us. It was fun n_n. On our way back Shana Pol and I rode with V (our programming evangelist / professor / buddy), then I changed my clothes for our projects presentation and went to class.

Once in class, I didn’t pay much attention. I always get nervous before thesis presentation, and this one was a big one. So yeah… after that I met up with the Mecatronics and we hung out while the other teams finished their presentations (we were second). After a while we started getting really nervous so Alekz, L and I went upstairs to wait for our turn and in the meantime PC, Chuy and Chon were presenting. They were asked to step out after their presentation to be graded and PC was feeling awful. Poor thing :( . We talked a bit, he’s soo cute, even when he’s sick.

It was our turn and we did awesome! The presentation went by in a jiffy and we totally aced it! I was really happy n_n. The Mecatronics aced too and Jerry and I got crêpes to celebrate! I had soo much fun with them :D .

The day was not over for me… I still had to sit my Information Security practical. I was in the team with Alekz and Shana Pol. Five hours later we finished, printed everything and our Professor told us that it al seemed good. I really hope it is good because that little exam is 30% of our final grade.

On Wednesday I went to school at my usual hour (9 am). I ended up in a traffic jam which made me very late. I barely made it into the classroom when Javi tells me: “We have oral exam now!”. Oral exam? I didn’t even study! My notes are complete crap and I barely know the subject that we are studying!! Oh God! Oh God! Javi went in first and I was madly reviewing my notes (the few ones that I have), then it was my turn. The professor asked me very easy questions and the ones I had wrong he took as right because “you don’t study telecommunications”. I got an A on that as well n_n. What a relief!

On my next class I did a little presentation and left early because I had to go to a congress at the Military School of Engineers (Escuela Militar de Ingenieros). We went along with V and Carmen, they were going to give lectures and Alekz and I were tech support XDD, which means that we passed slides and showed some demos.

That place is impressive. This is te ceiling of the room the conferences were given:

DSC01728It is blurry because I have a very unsteady hand :P .

The room was huge and the militia were incredibly well behaved and made interesting questions. Before we went in to help, they fed us a very lovely meal in the most elegant dinning room ever! It all was very beautiful and the food was delicious. We had lunch with the sub-director of the School and some other important looking people.

The lectures were really good, we had some technical issues but nothing major. At the end, we were approached by the students (it was AWESOME), who asked a lot of questions about our projects. I really didn’t know how to answer a lot of them but it felt really great. It literally made me feel on top of the world.

I don’t remember much of it because it all has been a blur. This week made me realize that I’m doing something that is worthwhile and that I really am on the right path to… something. I don’t know it all has been so exciting, but still I want this to end and maybe sleep for three days.
